Headboards

Choosing a headboard for your bed

Headboard is the most visible part of your bed, so headboards are a great opportunity to add style to your bedroom. If you are looking for ways to add a unique feature to your bed, a headboard is a great way to personalise your bedroom design. Headboards come in various shapes, styles, materials and colours.

Types of headboards

There are two main types of headboards:

  • freestanding headboards
  • attached headboards (they can be attached to the bed or to the wall)

Attached headboards can be attached to your bed or to the wall and they are usually less expensive.

Which headboard to choose?

If you have a divan bed and you want to avoid the hassle of attaching the headboard to the wall or to the bed, your preferred option may be a freestanding headboard.

Wall mounted headboards are a great option for adjustable bed frames.

If you are looking for a warm look and feel, upholstered headboards are comfortable to lean against and have a cosy look.

Choosing your statement headboard

Look at your bedroom furniture, bedding and cushions. Make sure it works with the rest: the colours, the patterns and textures.

If you want to go for a modern look, metal or wooden headboards will be a good option. If you are after a more traditional and cosy look of you bedroom, upholstered headboards will be your friend.

Before buying a headboard, check these:

  • how much space you have to work with.
  • the height of a headboard, as it can can seriously affect the look and feel of your bedroom
  • measure your room and bed frame to make sure they will fit
